A key official in the presidential office said in a phone call with YTN that a meeting of senior secretaries was held this morning presided over by chief Chung, and after chief Chung expressed his intention to resign, he notified acting president Choi that he had accepted it and then rejected it again.
At the meeting, senior secretaries said they had decided to resign carefully in consideration of the vacuum in state affairs and dissuaded Chung from resigning.
In response, Chief of Staff Jeong Jin-seok said, "I understand that he is considering his future."
Earlier, Chief of Staff Chung and senior secretaries expressed their third collective resignation after President Yoon and Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, taking responsibility for assisting the president to Acting President Choi.
