Chief of Staff Jeong Jin-seok, who offered to resign to Acting President Choi Sang-mok yesterday (1st), is expected to give up his resignation and continue his work for the time being.

A key official in the presidential office said in a phone call with YTN that Chung held a meeting of senior secretaries this morning (2nd) and explained how acting Choi rejected his resignation after saying he would accept it.

Participants in the meeting reportedly dissuaded Chung from resigning, saying that he should carefully decide to resign in consideration of the vacuum in state affairs, and as a result, Chung decided to give up his resignation and continue his work for the time being.

Earlier, Chief of Staff Chung and senior secretaries expressed their third collective resignation after President Yoon and Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, taking responsibility for assisting the president to Acting President Choi.
