The Ministry of Public Administration and Security announced that donations to Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, have tripled from the previous year to 1.5 billion won based on the preliminary 2024 figure.
In particular, the amount raised for two days from the 30th to the 31st of last month, immediately after the airplane accident, amounted to 1.1 billion won, or 71% of the total amount raised in 2024.
The Ministry of Public Administration and Security explained that there were a series of posts to help Muan through donations of love for his hometown through Internet communities and social media, and that it seems to reflect the people's desire to overcome the crisis together.
Last year, hometown love donations recorded 89 billion won, far exceeding the total fundraising of 65 billion won in the previous year, and the number of donations was about 790,000, up 50% from the previous year.
