Last year, the number of babies born in Korea rebounded for the first time in nine years, a report showed.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security said that the number of registered births in 2024 rose 3.1% from the previous year to 242,334, marking the first increase in nine years.

By gender, boys had 5,512 more births than girls.

However, the number of residents registered was 51,217,221, which has decreased for five consecutive years since 2020.
