South Chungcheong Province and Seosan City announced that they began lifting dump trucks that sank after being loaded on the West Sea from 9:15 a.m. today (5th) and completed them in four and a half hours.
However, the Coast Guard explained that it did not find any missing people in their 50s who were believed to be in the dump truck.
The West Sea capsized around 6:30 p.m. on December 30 last year while traveling from Seosan Udo to Gudo Port with seven crew members and dump trucks. Two people were rescued immediately after the
accident, but four people, including the captain, were killed and a dump truck driver is also missing.
The Coast Guard will continue its extensive search of coastal areas and near capsized ships to find the missing.
