The world's two biggest aircraft manufacturers, Boeing of the United States and Airbus of Europe, are reeling from a series of recent disasters and supply chain disruptions.

Just in time, China revealed its ambition to split the international airliner market into three with its own C919 model.

This is Beijing correspondent Kang Jeong-gyu.

[Reporter]
On New Year's Day, a Chinese self-developed airliner, C919, took off from Shanghai to Hong Kong.

In March 2022, it launched a regular flight of Eastern Airlines, which suffered a Boeing 737-800 crash.

This is the first time that it has been deployed on an international flight out of mainland China.

[C919 passenger (last 1st): I just got a chance and bought a ticket. I want to use it as a unique New Year's celebration and as a proof of history.]

C919 manufacturer COMAC plans to make this the first year of its overseas expansion.

Since its first operation in May last year, it has exceeded 1 million domestic passengers and delivered 16 to three major state-owned airlines.

It then established branches in Hong Kong and Singapore with the aim of obtaining European certification this year and entering Southeast Asia next year.

The weapon is more than 20% cheaper than its rivals, the US Boeing 737 and the European Airbus A320.

In particular, production disruptions at Boeing and Airbus, whose trust has fallen due to a series of airframe defects and disasters, are a positive factor.

Just in time, 28 U.S. companies, including Boeing, were also fired at the authorities level, including export controls and strengthening safety checks for accident models.

As China challenges international airliners led by the U.S. and Europe, it seems to be carrying out a "three-minute" strategy.
