Korean volunteer group to support recovery of children affected by the earthquake

Morocco experienced an unprecedented earthquake last year that caused the city to collapse.

A year has already passed, but the victims are still living in tents in shelters.

Korean volunteers visited earthquake shelters and volunteered to restore children's psychology.

Children in Morocco's earthquake shelter look bright for the first time in a long time.

The Marrakesh region of Morocco, which was severely damaged by the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in September last year.

In particular, the mountainous village of Hsane has been banned from living due to the risk of falling rocks after the earthquake.

Residents who have lost their homes in a moment are continuing their tent lives waiting for the day to return to their daily lives.

Of the 251 residents, 77 were children and teenagers.

Children who face sudden disasters complain of greater trauma and psychological damage than adults.

[Fatima Zahara Scow / Local Moroccan University Student Volunteer: This is not a suitable environment to live in. In particular, there are no safe houses and the school education environment is not good.

In this situation, the KOICA volunteer group has launched a volunteer activity called "Reclaiming the Smile of Hsane Village" to provide psychological recovery and stability to refugees.

The volunteer group put a lot of effort into preparing customized activities for children of various ages from 1 to 15.

Volunteers said they hope the activities will help earthquake victims overcome their wounds and regain their health and daily lives as soon as possible.
