The U.S. State Department says Secretary of State Tony Blinken will visit South Korea for two days from tomorrow to meet with senior officials and reaffirm the ironclad Korea-U.S. alliance.

State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said South Korea and the U.S. will discuss ways to build important cooperation based on common values in global challenges.

Blinken, who is set to retire, is expected to hold a meeting of South Korean and U.S. foreign ministers in Seoul the day after tomorrow (6th), which is expected to be his last in office, and is reportedly coordinating ways to prevent acting President Choi Sang-mok.

The meeting between the two ministers is the first face-to-face meeting between South Korea and the U.S. since the emergency martial law crisis.
