On the 3rd local time, U.S. Internet media Axios and others quoted sources as saying that the U.S. State Department had notified Congress of plans to sell Israeli weapons.
The sale of weapons will provide Israel with munitions and shells for fighter jets and attack helicopters.
Specifically, they include AIM-120C air-to-air missiles for fighter jets, drones, 155mm shells, and Hellfire air-to-ground missiles, Axios said.
A U.S. official said the sales plan was aimed at "supporting Israel's long-term security while resupplying critical munitions and defense capabilities."
Under the federal Arms Export Control Act, the administration must obtain congressional approval before selling weapons to foreign countries.
