Amid worsening road conditions due to a sharp drop in temperature, freezing and snow in the central United States, the extreme cold is expected to soon spread to the eastern United States.

Heavy snow damage is expected in Kansas and Indiana, with more than 20 centimeters of snow building on the highway as the Arctic vortex descends into the United States, shutting down parts of the Central Kansas Highway, the Associated Press reported.

The snow storm is expected to hit major cities in the eastern United States, including New York and Washington, DC, on the 6th through Ohio, and a strong cold spell is also expected in southeastern Florida, which is usually warm.

In Salina, Kansas, a fire truck and a car flipped over and a large truck fell into a ditch.

Missouri and Virginia declared a state of emergency after heavy snow feared traffic accidents and isolation.

Chicago's temperature dropped to minus 12 degrees Celsius and Minnesota International Falls to minus 25 degrees Celsius.
