Seosan Air Force operates the only 'bird detection radar' in Korea
"Need countermeasures based on the time data of bird movement."
As bird collisions cause serious human damage, preventing accidents is more important than anything else.
Radar, which accurately identifies the movement of birds, and data utilization methods reflecting the movement time of birds are being raised.
Reporter Oh Dong-gun covered it.

It is a radar that allows you to check the movement of birds at a glance.
Radar, which detects the movement of birds within a 12-kilometer radius of the airport, tracks the direction, speed, and altitude even at night, allowing pilots to prepare in advance.
Currently, most airports, including the United States and Europe, are operated, but Korea is the only one operated by Seosan Air Force Unit.
[Hyun Dong-sun / Director of Avian Collision Prevention Research Institute, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Advisory: About 10 to 20 bird collisions occur at each base. However, Seosan Air Force Base has tens of thousands of times more birds than other bases, at least 300,000 birds in winter, and in some years, no bird collision has occurred.]
None of the 15 airports in the country have a 'bird detection radar'
There are only three thermal cameras in Gimpo and Gimhae airports that check for birds just before takeoff and landing.
Some argue that measures should be taken using time data when birds mainly move.
In fact, if you look at the papers analyzing "Bird Strike" between 2009 and 2010, accidents are concentrated at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
The accident time of Jeju Air's flight is 9:03 a.m.
[Choi Chang-yong / Professor of Forest Science at Seoul National University: In general, birds that are active during the day tend to become more active mainly around sunrise, just before and after sunset]
It is necessary to respond by analyzing the association between the time of movement of the tide and the accident data, but the data is absolutely insufficient.
The time of occurrence of 623 bird crashes reported across the country from 2019 to the first half of last year was not disclosed.
Some point out that transparent information disclosure is a priority to prevent accidents
