Six people were killed and dozens injured when separatist rebels bombed a bus in southwestern Pakistan's Baluchistan.

According to the Pakistani daily Dawn and AFP news agency, a bus carrying a Pakistani paramilitary border guard exploded on the road from Karachi, a southern Pakistani city, to the city of Turbat, Baluchistan, bordering Iran, on the 4th local time.

At least six people were killed and more than 25 injured in the attack, local police said, saying the suicide bomber drove an explosive-equipped car into a bus and detonated a bomb.

He then claimed that the incident was a clear suicide bombing and that border guards were targeted.

The separatist rebels in Baluchistan, the Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA), also claimed in a statement that they were behind the incident.

Baluchistan borders Afghanistan and Iran and is an area under development by foreign capital such as China due to its rich mineral resources.

However, the BLA and other rebels insist on secession, saying that the Pakistani government and foreign capital exploit local resources, and that there is little benefit to the Baluchi people, who are indigenous to the region.

It has also attacked soldiers in the region, as well as Chinese and outside workers.

In October last year, gunmen attacked a miner's quarters near a coal mine in Baluchistan, killing 20 people, including miners working there, and in November last year, more than 20 people were killed in a bombing on a train station platform in Qeta, the capital of Baluchistan.
