The president's office pointed out that after the martial law incident, the police have been passively responding to illegal activities such as violence by progressive groups, thus aiding and abetting illegal activities.

A senior presidential office official said yesterday (4th) that illegal activities are taking place, including one police officer being injured during a protest by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions near the presidential residence, adding that the police's loose response method is worsening the situation.

At a police command meeting last month, he stressed a "flexible response to rallies" and pointed out that public power has been virtually neutralized, and if this situation continues, it could lead to a collapse of public power, which could lead to an uncontrollable situation.
