The heavy snow warning in the Seoul metropolitan area, including Seoul, has been lifted as the snow, which used to fall strongly in the morning, has gradually weakened.

While heavy snow warnings are still in place in Gangwon Province and parts of South Gyeongsang Province, caution is needed as some snow is expected to fall by the afternoon.

I'm connecting with the reporter. Reporter Kim Minkyung!

Please tell me the current snow situation in detail.

[Reporter]
Yes, there are currently divided clouds passing through the central part and clouds passing through the south in Korea.

Seoul and northwestern Gyeonggi Province, which had a lot of snow from dawn to morning, have now subsided as snow clouds have fallen.

As a result, all heavy snow warnings in the metropolitan area, including Seoul, have been lifted,

A heavy snow warning is in effect in parts of Gangwon Province and South Gyeongsang Province, with 1 to 3 cm of snow still falling per hour.

In the afternoon, Seoul will receive about 1cm of light snow and northeastern Gyeonggi Province will receive up to 5cm more snow,

An additional 8cm of snow is expected to fall until night in Gangwon-do, Chungbuk, eastern Jeonbuk, and some parts of Gyeongbuk.

Snow will mostly stop in the afternoon and at night, but in some areas it will continue to be light until tomorrow morning. The snow melted a lot as temperatures rose during the day

, but this snow is a heavy and humid 'wet snow', and there is a high possibility of damage to facilities due to accumulated snow in some areas with low temperatures.

In addition, special attention is needed as the risk of road thin ice and icy road accidents is expected to increase from night when the temperature drops.

A bitter cold wave comes in the middle of the week after the snow stops?

[Reporter]
Yes, this snow stops and the hottest cold wave of this winter is expected to come in the middle of the week.

A strong chill below minus 30 degrees Celsius comes down from the northern sky of the Korean Peninsula, and the temperature in Seoul morning is expected to drop to minus 11 degrees Celsius, and the wind is added to make the temperature feel even lower.

In particular, there is a high risk of damage to facilities due to "wet snow" as another heavy snowfall is expected in the Honam region along with a fierce cold wave.

On the other hand, the East Coast region, which has a prolonged dry warning due to lack of snow, has a high risk of fires such as forest fires, so special attention is needed to manage embers.
