The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said the coldest weather will come this week with a strong cold spell of minus 40 degrees Celsius moving south over the northern part of the country.
The morning temperature in Seoul will drop to minus 6 degrees Celsius today and tomorrow on Thursday, and the wind chill will be close to minus 20 degrees Celsius.
In addition, it is expected that the extreme cold, where the wind chill temperature remains around minus 10 degrees Celsius, will continue even during the day.
In particular, the Jeonbuk region is expected to receive up to 40cm of heavy snow from today to Thursday, so special attention is needed.
The Korea Meteorological Administration asked the government to thoroughly prepare for freezing accidents and damage to facilities, saying that the cold wave will continue until the morning of the weekend and other areas of Honam and Chungnam will continue to receive heavy and strong snow until the second half of the week.
