As the strong cold wave reached its peak, a cold wave warning was issued in Seoul for the first time this winter.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said morning temperatures in Seoul and other inland areas are expected to fall below minus 12 degrees Celsius tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, adding that it has extended cold wave warnings to all metropolitan areas, including Seoul, Chungcheong, North Gyeongsang and North Jeolla Province.

The effective time is 9 p.m. tonight, and the temperature in Seoul is expected to drop to minus 12 degrees Celsius tomorrow morning, and the wind chill is expected to drop below minus 18 degrees Celsius.

At the same time, the cold wave warning was strengthened to a cold wave warning in northeastern Gyeonggi Province as morning temperatures were expected to drop below minus 15 degrees Celsius.
