According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's tally, the control amount of the Muan Airport control tower in 2023 was 45,38 units, and an average of 111 units per day were carried out.
It is more than three times the number of controls, especially compared to Ulsan, with 52 Yangyang control towers per day, 40 Yeosu control towers per day, and 35 Ulsan control towers per day.
Shortly after its establishment, the control of the Muan control tower, which was only 6,295 units per year in 2008, has since maintained the level of 4,000 to 7,000 units, but the control increased to 25,310 as Muan Airport was designated as a replacement airport due to the construction of the Jeju Airport runway in the second half of 2014.
Since then, the control of the Muan control tower has soared to 63,000 units in 2017 as the maintenance of the replacement airport and flight trainer control have been added.
In 2017, the Busan Regional Aviation Administration tried to impose night operations restrictions on Muan Airport for fear of safety accidents caused by accumulated fatigue of controllers, but it was canceled due to community opposition that feared it would adversely affect the airport's revitalization.
The number of controllers at Muan Airport increased from six at the time to seven now.
