Last year's stock price fell...Total 44 owners' stock assets fall by KRW 6.6 trillion in a year

Last year's fall in stock prices led to a decline in the value of six of the 10 major group heads.

The Korea CXO Research Institute, which specializes in corporate analysis, said it conducted a survey of 44 conglomerates with stock valuations of more than 100 billion won as of early 2025 out of 88 conglomerates designated by the Fair Trade Commission.

The stock valuation of the total number surveyed earlier this year was 58.1584 trillion won, down 6.6 trillion won from 64.7728 trillion won at the beginning of last year.

In addition, 28 (63.6%) of the 44 people surveyed saw their stock values decline, while 16 (36.4%) saw an increase.

Lee Dong-chae, former chairman of Ecopro, is the largest decline in stock property in the past year, down 56.7% from 3.1995 trillion won early last year to 1.384.1 trillion won early this year.

In addition, Chairman Wonik, who used it, fell 45.7 percent from 239 billion won to 129.7 billion won, followed by Kakao founder Kim Bum-soo, who fell 35.4 percent from 6.11 trillion won to 3.9527 trillion won.

By amount, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, the No. 1 stockholder, saw the biggest drop, down 2.957 trillion won from 14.8673 trillion won to 11.9099 trillion won.

On the other hand, Doosan Chairman Park Jung-won topped the list with a 185.1% increase in valuation from 121.2 billion won early last year to 345.6 billion won early this year, helped by a rise in Doosan's stock price.

In addition, the stock valuation of adviser Youngpoong Jang Hyung-jin, who is in a management dispute, jumped 82.8% from 384.3 billion won at the beginning of last year to 702.3 billion won at the beginning of this year due to the rise of Korea Zinc's stock price.
