At around 6:40 p.m. local time on the 5th, an Etihad Airlines flight EY461, which was going from Melbourne Airport to Abu Dhabi Airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), exploded with two wheels during takeoff, Australia's ABC reported.
At that time, the plane was running on the runway at about 300 kilometers per hour for takeoff, but fortunately, the captain applied the emergency brake just before takeoff, stopping the plane, and all 289 passengers on the plane were safe, the broadcaster said.
However, the airport explained that the aircraft remained on the runway because the tires were broken and could not be towed, and that one of the two Melbourne airport runways was closed, leading to a series of delays.
The airport also said the aircraft was towed after being repaired on the runway and the runway reopened at around 8 a.m. on the 6th after the runway inspection.
The plane in this accident is a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
It is different from the Boeing 737-800, the Jeju Air disaster passenger aircraft, but it is the same Boeing aircraft.
