The European Union, the European Commission and Slovakia will discuss a solution this week to the suspension of Russian natural gas supplies through Ukraine's gas pipeline.

The Slovak government said in a statement that Prime Minister Robert Pizzo will meet with EU Commission representatives in Brussels, Belgium, on the 9th to discuss gas transport.

Picho said Ukraine had caused major economic damage to Slovakia due to its refusal to extend its contract to transport Russian gas on security grounds.

Ukraine, on the other hand, has criticized pro-Russian Prime Minister Picho for continuing to give Russia revenue to fund the war.

Russian natural gas through Ukrainian gas pipelines has been cut off since the 1st after the contract for the transport agreement expired on the 31st of last month and Ukraine did not extend it.

Some EU member states have decided to respond by increasing the proportion of liquefied natural gas imported from the United States, Norway and Qatar, but Slovakia and other heavily dependent members are strongly opposed to the transit suspension.

The EU is in a position to maintain the sanctions stance against Russia, with all member states joining, so it is expected to mediate the conflict between Slovakia and Ukraine.
