The Joint Chiefs of Staff said North Korea fired missiles into the East Sea from Pyongyang around noon today.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said they captured a North Korean medium-range ballistic missile and flew 1,100 kilometers before landing on the East Sea.

The intelligence authorities of South Korea and the U.S. explained that they had detected and monitored North Korea's missile launch preparations in advance, and immediately detected and tracked them during the launch.

In addition, we are comprehensively analyzing detailed specifications by sharing related information with the US and Japan.

Our military strongly condemned North Korea's missile launch.

It defines it as an obvious provocation that seriously threatens peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and intends to keep a close eye on North Korea's trends under a strong South Korea-U.S. joint defense posture to prevent North Korea from misjudging under the current security situation.

The presidential office said the National Security Office held a security situation inspection meeting with related agencies, including the Joint Chiefs of Staff, presided over by the second deputy chief In Seong-hwan.

At the meeting, he stressed that he will share the North Korean missile situation, discuss future plans, and maintain a full posture to respond to any provocation.

North Korea's latest provocation is the first since Yoon Suk Yeol's emergency martial law on the 3rd of last month and the first this year.
