China has drawn a line that there is nothing to comment on North Korea's firing of ballistic missiles during the South Korea-U.S. foreign ministers' meeting in Seoul.

When asked at a regular briefing, Guo Jacun, China's new foreign ministry spokesman, said China's position on the Korean Peninsula is consistent and clear, but replied that there was no new comment on launch-related activities.

China's 'consistent position' refers to the political resolution of the Korean Peninsula issue and the protection of peace and stability in the common interests of each party.

Earlier, the South Korean military said North Korea fired a ballistic missile around noon today in Pyongyang, and the missile flew 1,100 kilometers before falling on the East Sea.

North Korea's provocation came two months after the launch of a short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) on November 5 last year on the day of the South Korea-U.S. foreign ministers' meeting in Seoul.

China's foreign ministry said new spokesman Guo Jhaqun became the 35th spokesman, presiding over today's briefing for the first time.
