Ambassador Goldberg told reporters on his way out of the country after his two-and-a-half-year term, "Korea is clearly a great country, although it is suffering great confusion due to the emergency situation and the terrible tragedy caused by the plane crash."
At the same time, he added that Korea is a great country and that the great democratic function will continue to work.
Ambassador Goldberg, who took office in July 2022, offered his resignation in time for the launch of the second Trump administration and said he plans to end his 36-year career in public service after serving as the U.S. ambassador to South Korea.
