The National Assembly's Education Committee decided to hold a hearing on the 17th to ask whether the introduction of artificial intelligence and AI digital textbooks promoted by the Yoon Suk Yeol government is appropriate.

At the plenary session, the Education Commission adopted a plan to conduct the AI textbook verification hearing.

As there is still a controversy over the pros and cons of AI textbooks, the education committee plans to re-verify the contents of AI textbooks, the process of introducing them, and the expected effects and problems when introducing them.

The hearing adopted 18 witnesses and 13 witnesses, including education ministry officials such as Minister Lee Ju-ho, some provincial superintendents, representatives of AI textbook developers, and incumbent teachers.

Earlier on the 26th of last month, a bill that regulated AI textbooks as educational materials rather than textbooks passed the National Assembly, but Minister Lee Ju-ho and the people's power have expressed their position that the government should exercise its right to demand reconsideration.
