Army "Different from the suspicion of concealing 50,000 rounds of ammunition during martial law"

Regarding the allegation that the Army carried 50,000 rounds of ammunition in the vehicle during the December 3 emergency martial law and concealed them by not recording them in ammunition management documents, it said it was not true.

Kim Ji-sang, head of the Army's Seoul Public Information Team, said at a regular briefing of the Ministry of National Defense today (7), "The unit loaded ammunition in the transport vehicle to prepare for the receipt of ammunition following the issuance of the second level of alert during martial law, and then returned to its original position."

At the same time, he denied the allegations, saying that the ammunition was not delivered or handed over to subordinate units or individuals and was not subject to the record of the ammunition storage specification card.

Prosecutors indicated in the indictment of former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun that the 1st Airborne Brigade loaded 23,520 live rounds for rifles and 26,880 rounds for ammunition transport vehicles at the time of martial law.

However, reports have raised suspicions of manipulation and concealment, saying that more than 50,000 rounds of live ammunition were not recorded in the ammunition depot specification card.
