Tottenham has officially announced that it will issue an option to extend Son's contract by one year.

Tottenham's choice for Son Heung-min, who was at a crossroads, was to activate a one-year extension option.

Tottenham officially announced on the club's official channel that it will be with Son Heung-min until next summer.

Son Heung-min could have become a free agent as his contract with Tottenham was not renewed even though his contract with Tottenham expired on June 30 this year.

Most recently, it was reported again that FC Barcelona, a prestigious Spanish soccer club, showed interest.

However, with the option of a one-year extension, he was eventually confirmed to accompany Tottenham.

Son Heung-min, who wore a Tottenham uniform in 2015, is a "current legend" who scored 169 goals in 431 official matches and ranked fourth in the club's total score.

Wolverhampton Hwang Hee-chan, who is rumored to be a transfer, started against Nottingham, his 100th Premier League game.
