Foreign media, including AFP, reported yesterday (7th) that the first international flight landed at Damascus International Airport, the capital of Syria.
It has been a month since Syrian rebels ousted the al-Assad regime on the 8th of last month and declared victory in the civil war.
The resumed flights today include Syrian Airlines flights from the United Arab Emirates to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar Airways flights from Qatar.
In particular, it is the first time in 13 years that Qatar has resumed flights to Syria since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011.
Earlier, Damascus International Airport resumed operations on the 18th of last month, starting with domestic flights.
