Sports industry sales topped 81 trillion won...460,000 employees

Sales of the domestic sports industry surpassed 81 trillion won, the report showed.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, sales of the domestic sports industry rose 3.8% from 78.16 trillion won in 2022 to 81.32 trillion won, the largest ever.

By industry, sales in the sports goods industry rose 4.7%, the highest growth rate, while the sports service industry grew 3.9%, and the sports facility industry grew 2%.

The number of workers in the sports industry was 458,000, up 4.1% from 2022, and the number of businesses increased 4.6% year-on-year to 126,000.

The survey was conducted through visits, faxes, and e-mail surveys of 14,000 samples out of 126,000 companies.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized, "We will continue to make efforts to expand the size of the sports industry to 105 trillion won by 2028."
