Son Heung-min, who extended his one-year contract with Tottenham, is one step closer to winning his first professional stage.

Tottenham beat Liverpool 1-0 with Beribal's winning goal in the 41st minute of the second half in the first leg of the League Cup semifinals at home Hotspur Stadium.

Captain Son Heung-min started on the left wing, but failed to score an attack point, and was replaced after complaining of pain after a physical fight with his opponent in the 27th minute of the second half, leaving concerns.

Yang Min-hyuk, a "teenage striker" who joined last month, was assigned his number 18 and listed as a replacement for the first time, but his debut game failed in the end.

Tottenham will advance to the final if they draw in the second round at Anfield, Liverpool's home, on the 7th of next month.
