By the close of the day on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones 30 Industrial Average closed at 42,634.64, up 106.28 points, or 0.25%, from the previous session.
The Standard & Poor's (S&P) 500 closed at 5,918.18, up 9.15 points (0.15%) from the previous session, and the Nasdaq Composite closed at 19,478.88, down 10.80 points (0.06%).
The trend is attributed to the simultaneous impact of different directional information on the New York stock market, including the minutes of the U.S. Federal Open Market Committee in December, private employment and the number of new weekly unemployment insurance claims.
In addition, reports that Trump could declare a national economic emergency to enforce universal tariffs have dampened investor sentiment in the New York Stock Exchange.
