Kim Jung-hyun, head of the anti-communist youth group, held a press conference for the National Assembly's communication officer under the auspices of former lawmaker Kim Min, and announced the official launch of the protest near the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions' recent attempt to arrest the president illegally.
It was then introduced as the Baekgoldan in some media, but it is not an official name, and explained that the Baekgoldan will be operated as a subordinate organization.
In response, Rep. Lee Joon-seok of the New Reform Party criticized on his SNS, and former Rep. Kim Min brought an active group to the National Assembly's press conference to promote it with the intention of interfering with the execution of public power.
He then said, "Do you really not know what the term Baekgoldan means in Korea?" and criticized this as a politics that cannot distinguish feces before excrement.
Baekgoldan is the name of a political gang organized by the Liberal Party during the Syngman Rhee administration and a nickname for plainclothes police officers who suppressed the democratization movement in the 1980s and 1990s.
