Park said, "R&D budget cuts are an act that paralyzes research sites, weakens industrial competitiveness, and deprives future generations of hope."

Heo Young, head of the people's livelihood economic recovery team, also pointed out that the government praised this year's R&D budget of 29.6 trillion won as the largest ever, but it was only a 1.3% increase over the 2023 budget before the cut.

He also criticized that it is at a steady pace compared to other countries that give full support to R&D.
