U.S. Navy Seventh Fleet Commander Fred Catcher said a new drone and drone using artificial intelligence will be introduced, Japanese media reported.

In an interview with Japan's Sankei Shimbun reported today (11th), Commander Catcher expressed his intention to respond to threats from North Korea and China by combining AI drones and unmanned aerial vehicles with existing power.

The U.S. 7th Fleet controls the Western Pacific Ocean, which includes the surrounding waters of the Korean Peninsula, and Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, south of Tokyo, Japan, is the home port.

The introduction of drones and drones mentioned by Commander Catcher is part of the U.S. Department of Defense's "replicator project."

The plan is for the U.S. Department of Defense to deploy thousands of autonomous weapons systems within two years to overcome a Chinese offensive in August 2023.

In particular, with regard to Taiwan, Sankei explained, "The strategy is to buy time to curb the movement of Chinese troops with unmanned weapons and to reorganize the posture of allied forces."
