Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he has captured and is investigating two North Korean soldiers sent to Russia's Kursk region.

Zelenskyy said on his social media that they were wounded but survived, and that they were taken to Kyiv for questioning by Ukraine's security services.

In a separate announcement, Ukraine's security services said they had stated that they thought they were participating in training, not participating in the war.

They were also caught on the 9th and added that they did not speak English, Russian, or Ukrainian, so they are cooperating with the Korean National Intelligence Service to conduct an investigation.

One of the captives, who was born in 2005, is a rifleman and enlisted in 2021, said he arrived in Russia last fall and received a week of training to carry out cooperative operations with Russian forces.

The other stated that he was born in 1999 and joined the army in 2016 and served as a sniper.

In the photos posted by President Zelensky, it appears that one has been injured on both hands and one on the head.

One bed has a military identification card in Russian, with a Russian name written on it, not a North Korean name, and marked as born in 1998.

President Zelensky explained that North Korean prisoners are receiving the necessary treatment just like other prisoners of war.

He also explained that it was not easy to capture prisoners because Russia and the North Korean military usually execute wounded soldiers to hide evidence of their participation in the North Korean military.

At the same time, the world needs to know the truth about what is happening, he said, adding that he allowed media coverage of these North Korean troops.
