The Wall Street Journal said on the 11th local time that Hyundai Motor officials have been in contact with Trump's officials since last year's presidential election and have donated to the inauguration fund through a subsidiary in the United States.
This is the first time Hyundai Motor has donated to the inauguration of the U.S. president, which is interpreted as GM's decision to keep pace with the donation procession of global automakers such as Ford and Toyota.
The Wall Street Journal also reported that Hyundai Motor is also pushing for a meeting with Trump before and after the inauguration with President Jose Munoz and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun.
A Hyundai spokesman said it welcomed the opportunity to work with the new administration, which has policies to support U.S. manufacturing, protect supply chains and drive innovation.
Previously, Hyundai Motor Group started construction of Hyundai Motor Group's Metaplant America, an automobile production plant, in Savannah, Georgia, in 2022 and is about to be completed.
