Apple Says Opposition To Dismissal Of 'Diversity Policy' (EDI)

This contrasts with many companies, including McDonald's, that have scrapped "diversity, equity, inclusion" and DEI policies since U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's presidential victory.

Apple made this position in a public announcement regarding its regular shareholders' meeting on the 25th of next month.

Apple opposed a shareholder proposal urging it to consider scrapping DEI policies because it could differentiate employees and bring lawsuits.

Apple said the proposal was an inappropriate attempt to limit its business operations and that it was already evaluating legal and regulatory risks.

Apple also raised CEO Tim Cook's 2024 remuneration by 18% to $74.6 million (about 110 billion won), up from $63.2 million (about 93.2 billion won) the previous year.

Most of the pay increases stem from higher stock compensation values, which have been significantly increased but far below the level of 2022 when they were close to $100 million.

CEO Cook has voluntarily cut pay in 2023 in the face of backlash from employees and shareholders.
