The trial of former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who was the first person to be indicted among those related to emergency martial law, will begin on the 16th.
Former Minister Kim is accused of conspiring with the president of Yoon Suk Yeol to block the National Assembly and deploy armed martial law forces.
There are also charges of ordering the arrest and detention of about 10 major politicians, including National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik, and putting martial law forces into the Central Election Commission.
At the time, the prosecution stated in the indictment that the emergency martial law led by former Minister Kim constitutes a civil war and that President Yoon is on top of it.
Former Minister Kim's side has many contradictions in the prosecution, with instructions to "draw lawmakers" not in line with the objective circumstances,
A fierce court battle is expected as prosecutors claim that the prosecution's indictment of
is illegal.
