Sullivan "Israel, Hamas ceasefire, hostage release negotiations very close"

U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said negotiations between Israel and Hamas for a ceasefire and the release of hostages were very close.

Sullivan said in an interview with CNN on the 12th local time that negotiations are progressing, but they have not yet reached the finish line.

It also said Brett McCirk, President Joe Biden's Middle East adviser, is currently in Qatar, where he is discussing the final details of the documents to be presented to both Israel and Hamas.

Sullivan said he could answer if he asked if he could finish it before the 20th, the inauguration day of President-elect Trump, but added that he could not guarantee that he would do so.

Regarding the war in Ukraine, he stressed that it is a good deal for Ukraine to make a decision but not be forced by the United States or other countries, and that Russia will not start another war after the war, and that Western commitments to Ukraine's security are also needed.

As for how to keep European troops in Ukraine, known as Trump's previous initiative, he said there are many ways Trump can do it, but he cannot predict how he will do it.
