China's General Administration of Customs held a press conference today and announced that its annual exports reached 25.5 trillion yuan and about 5,000 trillion won last year, up 7.1% year-on-year.
He added that imports rose 2.3% to 18.39 trillion yuan (about 3,679 trillion won) last year.
This brought the trade surplus to 7.6 trillion yuan last year, or about 1,412 trillion won, highlighting unprecedented growth.
Bloomberg analyzed that Chinese companies rushed to send out supplies to make up for sluggish domestic demand and that supplies increased ahead of the launch of the second U.S. Donald Trump administration.
However, he explained that the trade boom could be the "last high" given that trade barriers such as high tariffs could rise after the inauguration of the second Trump administration.
