Ukrainian Defense Ministry Intelligence Director General Ye Yong-hen Yerin told Radio Free Europe that capturing North Korean troops alive was beneficial and necessary for Ukraine.
Yerin said, "We will use North Korean prisoners for the benefit of Ukraine," stressing that it is very necessary to have direct evidence that the North Korean military was involved in Russia's war in Ukraine.
Experts who are well aware of North Korea's characteristics are participating in the captured North Korean military interrogation process.
The ministry's intelligence bureau says it is currently investigating the possibility of North Korea sending additional troops to Russia.
However, he added that so far, there is no information that the North Korean military has been deployed inside Ukrainian territory.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy released images of two North Korean soldiers captured in the Kursk region of western Russia and photos of their identification cards.
According to the interrogation video released by Ukraine, one North Korean prisoner expressed his desire to live in Ukraine.
