The musical "Il Tenore" won the grand prize at the 9th Korea Musical Awards held at the Universal Arts Center in Seoul yesterday (13th).

Tenore was selected as the best creative premiere musical last year for a story of tenor Lee In-sun, a pioneer of Joseon opera.

Producer Shin Chun-soo, who directed the production, said, "I have a goal to perform on Broadway as Korean and Korean actors," and expressed his ambition that "Il Tenore" could be the production.

Hong Gwang-ho of Iltenore won the Best Male Actor Award, and Kim Soo-ha, who plays Eurydice in Hades Town, won the Best Female Actor Award.

The works that distinguish between more than 400 seats and less than 400 seats were selected as "Dear Evanhanson," which tells the story of a high school student suffering from anxiety disorders, and "Hongryeon," which is based on the classic novel "Janghwa Hongryeonjeon."

Director Lim Young-woong, who directed the country's first creative musical, won the Achievement Award, and the Children's Family Musical Award was won by Dinosaurs Alive.

The Korea Musical Awards, which began in 2016, is a venue to summarize the year of the domestic musical market every January.
