The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced today that it held a meeting to launch the L-SAM-II system development project at the Defense Research Institute in Daejeon.

System development is the stage of developing weapons systems that are scheduled to be mass-produced, and L-SAM was completed at the end of November last year and mass-produced from this year.

The L-SAM-II, which will be developing the system this time, is a guided missile that intercepts North Korean missiles at an altitude higher than the El-SAM, which has an interception altitude of up to 60 kilometers, and about 567.7 billion won will be spent by 2028.

The DAPA explained that if the L-SAM-II development is completed and deployed, the chance of intercepting the enemy missile from the upper floor, which is just before it descends, increases the probability of successful interception.
