Yoo Seung Min, former president of the Korea Table Tennis Association, blocked current chairman Lee Ki-heung from serving a second term and was elected as the 42nd chairman of the Korea Sports Council.

Yoo Seung Min ranked first with 417 out of 1,209 valid votes in the election for the president of the Korea Olympic Committee held at Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul.

Current Chairman Lee Ki-heung received 379 votes and candidate Kang Tae-sun received 216 votes.President-elect

Yoo said in his speech, "I feel more responsibility than joy," and emphasized, "The sports world has so many pending issues that we have to solve them one by one."

To this end, he said, "We have to work together," and added, "I'm not good enough, but I'll try hard."

Yoo, a former member of the national table tennis team, has been the president of the Korea Table Tennis Association and a member of the International Olympic Committee since winning the gold medal in men's singles at the 2004 Athens Olympics.President-elect
