The Cuban government welcomed the U.S. Joe Biden's policy of withdrawing the designation of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism, calling it the right direction.

Cuba's foreign ministry said in a statement released on the 14th local time that the U.S. action was the "right decision" and that "the Cuban government appreciates everyone's contribution and careful consideration in this regard."

"The coercive measures that seriously damage the Cuban economy and adversely affect the people will end," he said. "The U.S. decision is to correct cruel and unjust policies on a very limited basis."

Cuban authorities expressed caution about the possibility of overturning the decision to lift the state sponsor of terrorism in the second Donald Trump administration, which will be launched on the 20th.

Cuba's foreign ministry said, "The U.S. government has repeatedly shown lack of justification and consistency in its actions against us," adding, "Cuba will continue to confront domestic interference and disinformation operations and develop respectful relations with the U.S. based on dialogue."
