U.S. President Joe Biden signed an executive order to accelerate the construction of artificial intelligence-related data centers and energy infrastructure ahead of his retirement on the 20th.

President Biden has ordered the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense to select government sites that can be leased to companies to build data centers, and the Department of the Interior to identify land that will be used to build clean energy infrastructure for data centers.

Biden plans to speed up the construction of next-generation AI infrastructure in the United States in terms of national competitiveness, security, AI safety, and clean energy, and to help build power lines and connect power grids.

The new executive order focuses on reducing bottlenecks in power supplies, including renewable energy such as wind and solar.

As Trump has criticized the Biden administration's eco-friendly policies as fraudulent, it is unclear whether the policy will be maintained or discarded after Trump's inauguration, the Associated Press said.
