The People's Power called on the government to operate a thorough emergency medical system during the Lunar New Year holiday, while asking the medical community to resume dialogue to normalize the medical system.

Kwon Young-se, chairman of the emergency response committee, said at a party-government meeting held at the National Assembly that the emergency medical system should be looked at smoothly as the Lunar New Year holiday has been prolonged while the medical field is overloaded due to the absence of a large number of medical doctors and full-time employees.

He then asked the government to make every effort to take preventive measures such as strengthening monitoring of vulnerable groups of diseases such as the elderly and underlying patients in relation to the recent respiratory disease.

Floor leader Kwon Sung-dong also asked for full preparation, such as intensive management and inspection of emergency patient transportation systems and emergency medical resources, and explained that the government and the ruling party will do their best to provide reasonable compensation for medical staff and strong support measures.

At the same time, he urged the medical community to take a forward-looking attitude toward participation in the women-government-government consultative body, saying that it is time to discuss and prepare practical and specific solutions for medical normalization.
