The military has decided to launch two more reconnaissance satellites this year and start mass production of L-SAM, a long-range surface-to-air interceptor weapon that was developed in November last year, within the first quarter of this year to speed up deployment.

The Ministry of National Defense reported this to Acting President Choi Sang-mok at a meeting on major pending issues in the foreign and security fields held today.

Following the successful launch of reconnaissance satellites No. 1 to No. 3, it is known that if two additional satellites are deployed in practice, they will be able to monitor and reconnoite certain targets in North Korea every two hours.

The Ministry of National Defense also plans to continue its efforts to improve treatment, including an increase in duty service costs, to improve the barracks environment and service conditions, and decided to increase the remuneration of beginner executives in the guard operation unit by 30% from last year.
