Starmer will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to sign a "100-year partnership" treaty in defense, science and trade, the Associated Press reported.
The treaty included strengthening cooperation on maritime security and cooperation in drone projects against Russia in the Baltic, Black, and Azou seas.
Separately, Starmer is also expected to pledge 40 million pounds (about 71 billion won) worth of post-war economic recovery support during his visit to Ukraine.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin's ambition to separate Ukraine from its close partners has been a significant strategic failure," Starmer said. On the contrary, we are closer than ever and this partnership will take that friendship to the next level," he stressed.
Zelenskyy told Starmer he would also discuss French President Emmanuel Macron's proposal to deploy peacekeepers made up of troops from France and other Western countries in Ukraine if a ceasefire was reached.
This is the first time that Prime Minister Starmer, who took office in July last year, has visited Ukraine.
The visit was made without prior notice to the media.
Britain, a major supporter of Ukraine, has provided Ukraine with 12.8 billion pounds (about 22.8 trillion won) worth of military aid and humanitarian aid since the war broke out, and about 50,000 Ukrainian troops have also been trained to use Western weapons in Britain.
