Meeting of the Ministry of Population Establishment Promotion Team to Discuss the Establishment of a 'Five-Year Plan'

The establishment promotion team of the Population Strategy Planning Department held the second meeting of related ministries at the Seoul Government Complex today to discuss ways to establish a five-year basic plan to solve the population problem.

The Office for Government Policy Coordination said the promotion team has reviewed the implementation performance, problems, and improvement measures of the basic plan for low birth rate and aged society over the past decade.

Kim Jong-moon, the first deputy secretary of state, said, "The establishment of a population strategy planning department is more urgent than anything else in the context of entering a super-aged society," adding, "We will prepare for the establishment of a population department and come up with comprehensive measures in preparation for the passage of the Framework Act on Low Fertility Aged Society and the Government Organization Act."
