Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' space company Blue Origin, which challenges Elon Musk's "SpaceX," has launched a large rocket called "New Glenn."

The "New Glenn," which was launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida at 2:03 a.m. local time on the 16th, succeeded in entering the target orbit of the second stage rocket 13 minutes later.

However, the first stage projectile, which was planned to be recycled by landing on a ship installed in the Atlantic Ocean, was destroyed and failed to be recovered.

Elon Musk's SpaceX has been reusing its flagship rocket 'Palcon 9' projectile since 2017, and in October last year, it succeeded in vertical landing after returning to the launch site of the 'Starship' first stage projectile.

'New Glenn' was scheduled to be launched on the 10th, but after three delays due to weather and system problems, it was launched on the same day.

Blue Origin's Ariane Connell "achieved the primary goal of safely entering orbit," he added.

New Glenn is equipped with Blue Origin's own orbit carrier, "Blue Ring," and plans to check only communication functions for six hours in this launch.

Elon Musk said in his X after New Glenn's orbit, "Congratulations on your success in entering orbit on your first attempt."

The New Glen is a large reusable rocket that Blue Origin has been developing since 2012, originally scheduled to launch in 2020, but has continued to be delayed due to disruptions in its schedule due to COVID-19.

New Glenn is a two-stage rocket with a height of 98 meters and a diameter of 7 meters, larger than SpaceX's flagship Falcon 9, and smaller than the Mars spacecraft Starship, which is more than 100 meters tall.
